As we now look towards a prosperous 2016 here at Digital Next, we’re delighted to announce a new addition to our Paid Search team in the form of, Ex-Google Campaign Specialist, Vajinder Singh. After working with Digital Next’s Paid Search Manager, Sherline Kumanan, at Google, VJ saw the transition to agency life as a natural progression while also being presented with the opportunity to help grow the Paid Search department. So, rather than simply creating an overview of VJ’s background, we thought it would be better for us to let the man speak for himself…

AC – “Hi VJ. Firstly, welcome to Digital Next, it’s great to have you on board with us!”

VJ – “Thanks a lot, I’m glad to be here and reunited with Sherline, and I can see us achieving great things together!”

AC – “Excellent, I think everyone here at DN would agree with you there and believe that both yourself and Sherline will flourish as a team together. So, without further ado, let’s get to know you a little better…”

“First things first, how are you on this fine Thursday morning?”

VJ – “Ha ha, well with this current weather I wouldn’t necessarily consider it to be a “fine” morning, but other than that, I’m feeling very good today and looking forward to meeting some of our existing clients.”

AC“Ha ha, hopefully it will brighten up a bit more later! That’s good to hear, though, I’m sure they’ll be delighted to meet you too and to hear about your experience etc. So, why don’t you start by telling us a bit about your background and what skills you’ve learned along the way?”

VJ“So for the last 8 years I’ve worked for Google in the Leeds office, doing various roles over this time. My first role involved pitching AdWords to small to medium businesses. From there, I would run and manage the ad campaigns for 30 days as well, before progressing onto another role.”

“18 months on from here I decided to change roles and became one of the first employees to specialise in the account management side of the business. In this new role I would build, run and manage ad campaigns for businesses for a maximum of 90 days. Subsequently, the next step for me was to be assigned the larger accounts that the sales teams were closing, where I was responsible for building and managing accounts with the biggest budgets at that time.

“The final position that I held at Google was Campaign Specialist within the Agency Team that was created 3 years ago. Our main focus was to support agencies with any new to Google accounts that they had acquired as well as helping them pitch for new business. In the last year alone I traveled to Belfast and Dublin to co-present to new prospects with agencies I was supporting at the time.”

AC – “Okay great, that sounds like you’ve gathered quite a lot of experience and knowledge of PPC from the various positions you’ve had within Google, and it seems like you and Sherline could once again form a formidable partnership. But in relation to your new role here at Digital Next, what do you hope to achieve this year from both a personal and department point of view?”

VJ“Well obviously I really want to support Sherline in the growth and development of the PPC department within Digital Next, as he’s put his confidence in me to join the team and has a clear direction on where he wants us to get to. But I’m excited to bring my experience and knowledge to a team that are already doing great things.”

“My biggest goal is to grow the revenue/head count of the PPC department and pass on my knowledge to new starters. On a personal note though, I’m really looking forward to getting an insight into the other services that we provide our clients at Digital Next too, as I feel this will really help my own development and growth across the broader digital landscape.”

AC – “That’s brilliant to hear, especially since we’re always looking to improve and expand as a business and I believe that you’ll have ample resource available to achieve both your personal and departmental aims.”

“As we’re almost out of time here, I thought it would be a good idea if you could put together a little quote about joining Digital Next – just to give it a bit more of a personal touch.”

VJOf course! “This is a great opportunity to work with a small creative team which focuses on enhancing the performance of businesses’ digital marketing activities. I look forward to working with the Digital Next Search Marketing team to bring positive and measurable results to our clients and to use my experiences to take us to the next level!”

We are very excited to have VJ join our team and we look forward to progressing up the ladder as a company with the help of his knowledge, experience and fresh outlook.
