Our latest Spotlight is shining on The King’s School in Macclesfield, but more specifically their annual Christmas Fair!

The King’s School in Macclesfield is one of the great independent schools in England with an impressive history, stretching back for more than five centuries! The school is well known and has a great reputation for delivering outstanding education for their students.

Recently the school hosted their Christmas fair, which is traditionally an annual event, however this is the first to have been held since 2019. Organised by the Friends of King’s committee, it was the perfect opportunity to open the doors to their fabulous new campus that was completed and opened in September 2020.

The new school campus

The new £60m campus opened in September 2020, bringing all divisions of the school together on the new campus. It is an impressive new site that caters to all areas of learning for students and teachers. The state-of-the-art facilities even include drama studios, a gym, and swimming pool!

2022 Christmas Fair

Plenty of fun was had by all at this year’s Christmas fair, with volunteers helping to put on a fun filled event. Even Santa’s reindeer showed up for the day! Stalls included local arts and crafts creations, plus yummy treats and fundraising events. The family led event was a true group effort that resulted in a thoroughly successful festive event. The annual event made its comeback with a bang!

The school is planning to hold this Christmas Fair annually on the first Saturday of December. “We hope to see you on the 4th December 2023!”.

Friends of King’s Committee

As mentioned by Rachel Clarke in our Spotlight video, the Friends of King’s committee meets regularly to help plan upcoming events for the school. Organising and allocating the resources and volunteers to help. Volunteers are welcome to join the committee and are encouraged to help in the arrangement of events, like the annual Christmas fair, and assist other committee members and parent volunteers.

As Friends of King’s ourselves, we were invited along to the event to capture this exciting moment for the school. See above the Spotlight video we have created to capture our time at this year’s Christmas Fair at the King’s School.

Our latest Spotlight blog is shining the spotlight on award winning gin distillery, Defiance!

Paul’s love was realised when he travelled the world during his 20s, allowing him an opportunity to try cuisines and drink concoctions from all different cultures and continents.

An unconventional distillery

Defiance is a distillery which doesn’t follow convention. Crafting unique spirits with eye-catching designs, they have become well known in their area at the foothills of Oldham/Saddleworth. But, not only are Paul and his team locally known, they are recognised internationally and have been awarded a number of impressive accolades. Amongst the award winning Navy Strength are many other wonderful gin creations. One of their latest is Café Seville which has been described as a fresh new take on an espresso spirit distilled with sweet Seville oranges.
