Digital Next Rocked Out at Festwich
This year saw the return of Festwich, the UK’s biggest free rock tribute festival. Held at St Mary’s Park in Prestwich last weekend, more than 40 of Europe’s biggest tribute acts took to the 2 stages to entertain an energetic and enthusiastic crowd.
We were incredibly proud to be the headline sponsor, along with supporting sponsors including Tuborg and Rockstar. Continuing to grow in popularity, the festival not only offered free entry for its 5th year, but also upped its daily capacity from 7500 to 10,000. Complete with bars, food stalls and a fun-filled children’s area, there was something for everyone. With 2 full days of tribute music and good weather, Festwich had stepped up its production and it resulted in another great year for the festival.
Sold out event
Festwich sold out weeks in advance; their brilliant line up included tributes to ACDC, Guns & Roses, Kings of Leon and Red Hot Chili Peppers, to name a few! Festival fun was in full swing with music playing all day and even the weather held out.
Attracting a great crowd of all ages, Festwich is one of three popular free festivals held in the North West, joining Boltfest and Rockprest. Gearing up for 2 days of crowd-surfing, singing and making some brilliant memories, Digital Next were able to help Festwich become a success for another year. Some of our own team went down to check out the festival, enjoying a weekend with family and friends.
There were over 2000 Instagram pictures tagged at the festival, along with countless tweets and comments on Facebook full of love for Festwich.
Family first
Festwich aimed to put together a festival that allowed families to share an experience with unbeatable music, without the costly price tag of your usual festival ticket. People traveled for miles to check it out after hearing good things, and with 20,000 people attending over the weekend it is clear that the festival is coming on in leaps and bounds. CEO Justin Blackhurst commented that ‘Family is the most important thing in life and being able to share a great experience of music in the sun at a festival with your family is a really special thing’. Grandparents, parents, young adults and children alike all enjoyed the festivities, even participating in a money collection for The Christie.
Festwich made a special effort this year to remember music legends who have recently passed, including Motorhead singer Lemmy and David Bowie.
Between thrill-seeking rides and authentic tribute music, Festwich has been a hit all across social media with people already looking forward to next year’s event. With a fantastic atmosphere and amazing acts, we can’t wait either!
